Rafflesia is a genus of parasitic flowering plants in the family Rafflesiaceae.The species have enormous flower ,the bunds rising from the ground or directly from the lower stems of their host plants one species has the largest flower in the world plants of the world online list up to 41 species from this genus.all of them are found throughtout South Asia.

Western Europeans first learned about plants of this genus for french sugeon and naturelist lon is Deschamps when he was in Java between 1971 and 1794 but his hotes and illustrations,seized by the british in 1803.were not Availabel to western science until 1861. The firtst British person to see one was josepu Amold in 1818 in the Indunesia rain forest in Bengkulu Sumatra after malay servant working from him discoverd a flower and pointed it out to him.The flower and the gens.was later named after stamford Raffles ,the leader of the expedition and the founder of the British colony of Singapore.
